Valence for Android 1.5.16.1 alpha - Long answers are no longer cut short

A small update that fixes how long an answer can be.

  • Long answers are no longer cut short at a fixed length. On Auto, a reply can now use all the room the chat has left, instead of stopping at a fixed limit (512 tokens on some phones, 2048 on others). If you set a longer reply length yourself in Settings, Valence now uses it; before, anything above 2048 was quietly cut back to 2048.
  • You’re told when a chat runs out of room. If an answer fills the whole conversation window, a note under it says so, instead of the answer just stopping mid-sentence.
  • Very long answers are no longer thrown away. Before, an answer that was still being written after 5 minutes was discarded and replaced with “the model stopped responding.” Now Valence pauses at 5 minutes and asks: Keep going or Stop here. Stop keeps everything written so far.

On a motorola razr plus 2023, a request for a complete Tetris game went from stopping at 512 tokens to 1,559 tokens, stopping only when the chat ran out of room, with the note shown. Your phone will differ.
